IAs FROM DAVAO REGION BECOME NATIONAL LEVEL OUTSTANDING PERFORMERS FOR CY 2020

 

Two Irrigators Association (IA) in Region XI make it to the top 5 in the Search for Cy 2020 National Level Outstanding IA Performers for National Irrigation Systems (NIS) and Communal Irrigation Systems (CIS) Categories.

The MANIKI MAGATOS CAMONING FARMERS IA, INC. from Maniki, Kapalong, Davao del Norte under the leadership of President Francis Gerard Bernardino lands a spot for the Outstanding IA Performers under the NIS category;  while the PALAYAN NG B'LAAN IA INC., in New Cabasagan, Matanao, Davao del Sur led by President Antonio Atamosa also emerges to the top 5 for CIS.

The region also made another mark for the Most Outstanding IA under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) category. The Kipalili Concepcion Sagayen Agrarian Reform Community (ARC) IA in Davao del Norte with IA President Liberato Villafuerte bags the 2nd Runner-up.

Modesty aside, Davao Region is consistently home to national Most Outstanding IA awardees over the years, and the latest feats are considered milestones for the 2020 winners because they are first time nominees to national level categories.

The IA candidates came from different regions and were evaluated on their functionality based on their operation and maintenance performance, financial viability, and IA management capabilities. It can be recalled that NIA Central Office conducted a nationwide online validation as part of the selection of winners on May 27-28, 2021.

RM Jimmy L. Apostol along with the entire NIA XI greeted the news with delight which came in on June 9, 2021. Institutional Development Section Head Lani M. Sumabat expressed her heartfelt thanks to the whole NIA management for their support as well as to Division Managers Engr Larry C. Franada and Engr. Rona B. Presto of Davao del Norte and Davao del Sur Irrigation Management Offices (IMOs), respectively.

The IAs will be awarded with Plaques of Recognition, cash incentives and IA Model Farm on June 22, 2021 in time for the virtual celebration of NIA's 58th founding anniversary.
