From Dream to Delivery: Manat NIP Enters Final Phase of Completion

As the Manat National Irrigation Project (NIP) approaches its full completion, continuous efforts are being undertaken to ensure the orderliness, safety, and aesthetic integrity of the entire project area. In line with this, the construction of a perimeter fence within the Manat Dam area has commenced, along with the construction of tower sheds for the dam’s two towers.

The Manat NIP Diversion Dam, located in Barangay Banag-banag, Montevista, Davao de Oro, is currently undergoing these activities as part of its final preparations to become one of the new National Irrigation Systems (NIS) under the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) IMO – Davao de Oro.

The newly constructed perimeter fence will serve as a security measure to safeguard vital facilities and equipment within the area, while the tower sheds are designed to provide adequate protection for the machinery used in the operation of the dam’s steel gates.

Under the leadership of Engr. Rona B. Presto, Division Manager A, a project that was once only a dream for local farmers has now reached its final stages of completion. Once fully operational, the Manat National Irrigation Project is expected to deliver life-sustaining irrigation water to nearly 1,000 hectares of agricultural land, significantly contributing to increased farm productivity and rural development in the area.
