NIA XI GAD CONDUCTS GENDER SENSITIVITY TRAINING AND GENDER FAIR LANGUAGE
NIA Regional office XI Gender And Development (GAD) Focal system has just concluded the training on Gender Sensitivity and Gender Fair Language in two(2) batches, the first batch held on September 25, 2018 and succeeded by the second (2) batch on September 26, 2018 held at the NIA XI Conference room, Davao City attended by a total of 81 participants composed of the employees in the regional office.
Regional Manager Jimmy L. Apostol in his speech relayed the results of the Budget Hearing of NIA that they attended and presented to the Senate Committee. He stressed the need for the regional and IMOs to comply with the GAD Plans and Budget and such other mandates coming from the Magna Carta of Women.
Invited resource speaker was Rosena Sanchez, accredited by the Women Commission who tackled the first series of lectures involving gender sensitivity. She began her lecture with the history of GAD followed by other topics delivered in small group activities. The second set of topics dealt on the use of gender fair language where she presented the many pitfalls in the use of nonsexist language and the rules enumerated.
The participants were interactive and showed interest in the topics.
